Castelle Releases Market's First Network Fax Server Appliance with Full Hardware Redundancy
Castelle Moves Further into Enterprise Market with New FaxPress Enterprise Redundant Fax Server
Morgan Hill, CA - July 28, 2006 - Castelle (Nasdaq: CSTL), a leader in all-in-one network fax servers for the business and enterprise markets, announced the release of its new FaxPress Enterprise™ Redundant Fax Server, the first true network server appliance with full hardware redundancy for fax applications.
FaxPress Enterprise Redundant is the newest addition to Castelle's FaxPress Enterprise family of digital fax servers, providing an all-in-one redundant fax solution for T1, E1 or ISDN environments. Duplicated and backup hardware components provide increased reliability for business critical faxing. In the event of a hardware failure, the backup components will automatically take over allowing the fax server to continue to operate. The server-class hardware closely monitors the system and simultaneously sends notification to the administrator reporting the failed component. FaxPress Enterprise Redundant features include:
- Dual hot swappable hard disk drives
- RAID technology for disk mirroring
- Dual hot swappable power supplies
- Dual hot swappable cooling fans
- Dual Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with client cross over support
- Industrial grade hardware
- Support for Digital T1, E1 and ISDN Environments in single or dual configurations for auto failover

The redundant components of FaxPress Enterprise Redundant address and eliminate common points of potential failure. The FaxPress Enterprise Redundant server hardware is built around an Intel-based mother board with 1GB of memory, 2MB cache, and dual 100/1GB NIC connections. It includes a RAID 1 controller, two serial 80GB disk drives, two removable power supplies and fans. The FaxPress Enterprise can be configured for single or multiple digital connections to allow for automatic failover if the connection to the service provider is lost. FaxPress Enterprise runs on Castelle’s FaxPress Plus™ software for sending and receiving faxes using the Castelle client, email, production applications, or via the internet.
FaxPress Enterprise Redundant T1, E1 and ISDN
The FaxPress Enterprise Redundant T1 can be installed with a fractional T1 board to provide 8 channels across a fractional T1 line, dual fractional T1 boards, or one to three T1 fax boards to support from 24 to 72 channels across a T1 line(s). For international markets, FaxPress Enterprise Redundant is available in an E1 configuration with support for fractional E1, dual fractional E1, or full E1 up to 90 channels, and ISDN configurations from 2 to 24 channels per server. Upgrade kits allow customers to tailor the FaxPress Enterprise Redundant to their needs as the organization grows.
