Fax Description Language (FDL) is a scripting language that adds graphical interest to
your faxable documents. FDL templates are created with a Windows-based authoring program
that lets you create the template and save it with the .FDL file extension. Any time an
Ibex module sees the extension .FDL on a file, it processes it as an FDL template by
applying the correct fonts and performing the graphic conversions, text overlay and text
substitutions.
For example, you may make your fax-on-demand cover page an FDL template. Thus, each
time a caller requests documents from your system, a cover page (featuring special logos,
fonts or variable data) is created during real time and faxed out.
Use FDL brushes, lines, images and text objects to create lines, boxes, circles and
other graphic elements during document set-up and then specify the placement of logos and
more complicated images (in TIFF file format) anywhere within the document.
Text features include the support of any Windows Adobe Type ManagerŽ or Microsoft True
TypeŽ font, as well as word wrap, reversed type, text rotation and text overlay. Text
objects can also be replaced at run time with variable data, such as the recipient's name,
date of transmission, etc.
Distinctive fax watermarks are created by specifying the background image and then
transparently overlaying text on top of the image.
