The InfoPress Application Programming Interface (API) enables InfoPress to retrieve
information from another personal computer, a mini-computer or a mainframe and then fax or
read back dynamic information to the caller.
Ibex API allows you to control the application flow of InfoPress. You can specify, in
real time, what actions InfoPress should execute, what voice prompts should be played and
what faxes should be transmitted.
InfoPress accepts DTMF input from a caller, transfers it (via a simple file interface)
to a user program running on a separate Gateway or Host Computer, receives data in return
and informs the caller by voice, fax or both.
A typical API application is to retrieve account status from a mainframe. The caller
enters an account number and pin number/password, the information is retrieved and
InfoPress faxes it to the specified number.
InfoPress handles multiple lookup routines, so you could use one to look up the
validity of the account number and another to look up the actual account status.
Information retrieval can occur in call-back mode, where access does not have to be
real-time, or in one-call mode, where the caller is put on hold until the information is
ready for faxing.
InfoPress API is a toolkit that requires custom programming to allow it to communicate
with a particular host computer or database system.
Works with many external data sources
- Personal computer on a LAN or WAN
- Mini-computer
- Mainframe accessed through a dial-up line
- Works with many data formats
InfoPress can be controlled from the Gateway or Host computer
- InfoPress can play a specific voice prompt if the account cannot be accessed
- Caller can be transferred to an operator
- InfoPress can send a fax notifying caller that the request was not processed
Easy-to-use caller interface
- Caller simply follows voice prompts to enter DTMF information
- Caller can choose whether to receive information by voice, fax or both
Configuration flexibility
- Toolkit allows custom programming
- Will work in one-call mode, call-back mode or a combination of both
- Allows multiple look-up routines
